Boys, Birthdays, Bowling, Big Sister, BYU and a Legend

BOYS & BIRTHDAYS
Friday, Oct 12 was travel day for some of the boys to meet up in Las Vegas for some BYU Football and other fun. The boys who gathered from the family were John, Jason and Porter, Jared and Tate, Jordan, Chad and Mitch. Tate was getting ready for his 2nd birthday on the 14th and Mitch was still celebrating his 13th on
the 3rd. Jason scored some really unique kids themed rooms (Sports and Western motif) at the Holiday Inn Express near the UNLV Stadium. Great setting for some exciting Wii contests during the stay.

BOWLING & BIG SISTER
Saturday morning we set out early for the Sunset Station Bowling center, an official ABA bowling training center. This place had miles of lanes, many hard-core bowlers, and a Nazi trained staff to enforce all bowling regulations and to keep you in check. We were looked upon as a sort of underground rebellion group, but we sure had fun. Jason pulled out a last minute one pin victory in the last frame of the game in the mens division and Porter squeaked out a one pin victory over Grandpa in the kids and gimps division. Congratulations to the Arizona Hales.

After bowling, Jared, Tate and Grandpa went to Janice's house to say 'hello' and check up on my big Sis. She is continuing her medical marvel by rebounding from the amputation of most of her lower right leg. She looks great and seems to have adjusted well, like she has done for so many years with her medical challenges. It was so fun to see her. She said her doctor ask her this question after her surgery . . . If women with big _ _ _ _ _ work at Hooters, where do women with one leg work ? . . . .IHOP

BYU & A LEGEND

That evening was the game - BYU vs UNLV. We found our way to the stadium and had a great time watching BYU triumph over UNLV. After the game we were heading back out to the parking lot, when I heard some calling for Jordan. Jordan had turned around and an older couple was hurrying toward us saying "stop", we want to visit. I assumed it was the parents or grandparents of one of Jordan's many friends. When they caught up to us, they came over and shook my hand, saying "how are you"? I didn't have a clue who they were, but responded politely that I was fine, thinking maybe they had heard of my heart problems through Jordan's friend. In the meantime, they were asking Jordan about Janice, so he thought they knew me and my family, because he didn't know who they were either. A few minutes into this, Jordan and I were beginning to realize these people must be confused, but we were still sort of playing along thinking we could say 'good-bye' and get on our way to the parking lot. Before we could get away though, they called their daughter (grown woman) over to meet me. She then said, "why George Curtis, you are a Legend in our house" ! Then they asked Jordan about his trip to Alaska. Realizing we were then stuck, we said "I'm sorry, you must have us confused with someone else." We then continued on to the parking lot. However, we laughed and laughed about what we could have said. Jason said 'well, you know, all people in wheelchairs look alike' Jordan said he should have told them how great the fishing was in Alaska and that Janice was a wild animal up there. I should have told them, 'well I'm really not the legend you think I am, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night'
