San Diego - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons

Friday afternoon flight to San Diego, rented a car, grabbed some shrimp, crab & clam chowder at Anthony's on the harbor and then headed to Humphreys by the Bay for an 8:00pm performance by the original Jersey Boy, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. An outdoor venue on a beautiful San Diego night, Frankie Valli, now 70+ years old still has the voice. He sounds great ! His "new kids" Four seasons have the voices and the moves. (Frankie doesn't do too many dance moves anymore, but he is very animated and controls the program nicely)
Have Chair - Will Travel came through again as we bought wheelchair seating in section G (cheap seats) and just before showtime the concert supervisor came up to us and said the wheelchair seating in section A front was available.

We are including a link below to last years Tony Awards (Jersey Boys is based on the history of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, of course) that shows Frankie and two of his original group. The music is Frankie's 1960's and 1970's music performed by the cast of the Jersey Boys. Click the link - Frankie is the short guy on the left at the introductions.
Visited the zoo Saturday before returning home that evening. Great trip.

A Play in LA

The play in LA was Avenue Q, a Tony Award winning play that could have been called Avenue R or Avenue X due to some of the content. We are finding plays should be rated like films. This one had some great songs and messages but too much adult content (even though the stars were Sesame Street type puppets, they were crude little polyester people about 10% of the time)

This was a quick trip even by Have Chair-Will Travel standards. The play was in downtown LA at the Ahmanson Theater, next to the LA Opera and the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The LA County Building in the backgroud reminded me of Dragnet. "My name's Friday . . . I'm a cop"

A Match Made at England (CR England)

No planes for this trip to Dayton . . . Dayton, Idaho- This trip was to celebrate and share in the wedding of Melanie's good friends from CR England, Carey Fehler and Kristine Johnson. Held at the home of Carey's parents, here are some photos of the happy occasion.

It was a beautiful day in Dayton for this special occasion. Family and friends enjoyed gathering outside to celebrate with Carey and Kristine. The happy couple are settling into their new home and soon to be horse farm in Preston.

Other CR England connected folks in Dayton on this happy day included Best Man and good friend, Terry Davis (check out the suit and pink shirt- sharp !) and cinematographer Ron Eaves (off taking pictures)

BEAN TOWN BOYS

A 'spur of the moment' trip to Bean Town to see an old Puerto Rico golfing, goofing around and branch presidency, buddy and dear friend, Dave Logie, recently retired and consulting with Cochlear Inc, a company that was instrumental in his 'miraculous' hearing restoration.

Visited Dave at the annual AARP convention in Boston. Melanie had a ball going to the numerous vendors exhibits and picking up 'freebies'. It was like a free yard sale for her.

We later strolled along the Boston Harbor and the Freedom Trail. Shots are at the Barking Crab cafe and borrowing some power for the chair at the Old North Church. You know what Paul Revere said, "one if by land, two if by sea, and three if by wheelchair."

San Francisco Treat

Labor Day weekend saw us off to San Francisco to accomodate Chris, Aubrey and kids attending a Hennig family wedding in San Jose. Melanie and I got tickets to "Jersey Boys" for Sat. Sep 1st. The music, story, and performance were great. The language a little too authentic Jersey-speak. We also visited China Town, Alcatraz and the piers. Beautiful weather . . . fun riding BART and the trolleys.
